Job Spec – Forensic Technician

A Forensic Technician at Lineal will play a crucial role in Evidence Handling and Forensic Lab process. The Forensic Technician must display attention to detail and an understanding of best practices for digital forensic evidence; safe guarding all data from spoliation. They will support the wider Evidence Handing and Forensic Team globally, maintaining core applications, storage devices and forensic hardware. In addition to supporting the team in forensic collection and analysis tasks where required.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain the continuity of evidence received and collected by Lineal. Safeguarding against evidence assets against spoliation and loss.
• Responsible for Evidence asset tracking, storage and reporting.
• Maintain the highest standards for Evidence Handling process and procedures across the business.
• Support the wider Forensic Team on data collections & analysis where needed.
• Work with regional Forensic Teams to provide Forensic Lab support, including application & hardware support.
• Participate in the continuous improvement program for Evidence Handling.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant topic or 1+ Years working in a technical role within the eDiscovery or Digital Forensic Industry.
• Experience with forensic tools such as FTK, EnCase or Cellebrite.
• Fundamental knowledge in the digital forensic collection and analysis of common data sources.

Essential Competencies

• Familiar with eDiscovery processes and the EDRM.
• Fundamental understanding of computer systems and networks.
• Keen interest in the Digital Forensic / eDiscovery process.
• Technical knowledge/ability with various computer systems, both hardware and software.
• Excellent communicator at all levels that can adapt to the audience.
• Strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work under own initiative.

Desired Competencies

• Foundation knowledge of tools such as FTK, EnCase, Cellebrite, Caine, DEFT
• Some experience of forensically collecting data from various systems and platforms.
• Basic knowledge of Data privacy and Data protection law.
• Industry recognized certifications in Digital forensics or similar field.
