Join us at Flatiron and be a part of a team that is shaping the future of software development.Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled Unity Developer to contribute to the development of simulation environments for advanced robotics and drone systems.
The ideal candidate will work on creating immersive, ROS-based simulators for hardware embodiments such as drones and robotic dogs, ensuring seamless integration with sensor data streams and control outputs.This role requires close coordination with Python-based foundation models, as the core model interface must reside in Python.This is a full-time fully remote working opportunity where you will be working as part of a Scrum team which requires working closely with other software engineers, stakeholders and contributors on the project.
Working with respect to the US timezone is a requirement for the position.
Attending meetings, being actively involved in the decision making process and collaborating with all of these stakeholders are essential parts of this position.
Key Responsibilities:Develop and maintain ROS-based simulation environments for drones and robotic dogs.Integrate Unity with PX4 and Unitree ROS simulators to simulate real-world scenarios.Create realistic sensor data streams (e.g., RGB video, audio, and other inputs) for testing foundation models.Collaborate with AI and embedded systems teams to ensure accurate simulation of hardware control outputs.Optimize simulation performance for real-time processing and extensibility.Ensure simulations are designed to enable seamless integration and testing of Python-based foundation models.Create comprehensive documentation covering API endpoints, data handling procedures, model integration methods, and simulation instructions to ensure clarity and scalability in the final deliverables.Required Skills:Proficiency in Unity development, including 3D modeling and physics-based simulations.Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) and integrating Unity with ROS-based simulators.Familiarity with PX4 and Unitree ROS simulation environments.Strong understanding of sensor data processing (e.g., RGB video, audio).Proven experience working with Python-based systems for API integration, data handling, and serving as the primary interface layer for model interactions.Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with drone or robotic simulation frameworks.Familiarity with SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) and VIO (Visual-Inertial Odometry).Understanding of hardware control systems and actuator interfaces.BenefitsYearly Office Allowance BudgetMacbook Purchase SupportWellbeing SupportIf you are a good fit for the position, please apply through LinkedIn.We only accept CVs that are in English.Flatiron has a zero tolerance to discrimination policy.
